Locally produced for local producers

The Organic Nutrients operation commenced in 2011 with the completion of a purpose-built composting facility at Felton approximately 14km from the rural township of Pittsworth. The site has expanded to just over 8 Ha and processes over 600 tonnes of raw material each week.

Committed to Quality Composting

Establishing comprehensive Quality Assurance systems and procedures, the team at Organic Nutrients developed the facility to produce reliable and consistent quality compost based on nutrient rich chicken manure. All the compost produced by Organic Nutrients has HACCP and Organic Certification to provide farmers and crop producers with the peace of mind that the products are suitable and safe for use under all conditions. As a further measure to provide peace of mind, each batch must pass an independent pathogen test prior to release for sale.

Steps During Production

The level of care for the quality starts before the first chicken poop “is dropped”. The manure is collected from egg laying chickens that are carefully maintained and their poop falls onto a conveyer belt to avoid contaminants from landing on the ground. From there the chicken manure is transported to our composting facility where it is placed on a bed of sawdust and formed into windrows. The windrows are turned with our compost turner to incorporate the composting material, ensuring sufficient oxygen is mixed in to complete the composting process while reducing the particle size in preparation for screening.

·        The compost is screened to remove any oversized material, providing you with a uniform product to make spreading and incorporation a breeze.

The quality standards and procedures followed by Organic Nutrients meet the strict food safety standards required by growers to supply all the major Australian supermarkets. Our products are made using 100% natural ingredients and are certified as an allowed input for organic production by Australian Certified Organics (ACO). This allows agronomists, farmers, horticulturists and viticulturists to use our products knowing they are safe and meet their QA requirements.

100% organic, no pathogens, no weed seeds, no contaminants, 100% reliable and consistent like no other compost!
